I won't say WORST nightmare, but definiltey up there. To get a call at work at 5 am saying that the baby won't eat, is screaming, wheezing, and has a stuffy nose. Later, still wheezing, and just seems miserable. So off to the hospital we trek. After nebulizer treatments, still wheezing, and now oxygen perfusion levels are down to low 90s... so we get blow by oxygen... then 80s... then 70s..... then nusrses come in and start fussing and grabbing and not saying much, and then its a nasal cannula on a screaming child who won't eat, sleep, or calm down. Rocking doesnt help, singing doesn't help, pacing doesn't help. Finally she calms down, heartrate goes down, oxygen starts going up.
Long story short, 2 days in the hospital to monitor and wean off the oxygen. Reagan wasnt too happy about being stuck in a big metal crib with a bunch of wires, but you could tell she was struggling less to breathe. Luckily we were able to come home Xmas eve, and the staff there was amazing. Even more amazing was the visit from santa which brought sooo many gifts.
definitely a christmaas to remember...
